Father and daughter shot dead in Dolores, Abra



Dolores, Abra – Police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into a shooting incident that transpired around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, in Lublubba, Dolores, Abra to determine the motive and identities of the suspects.

 

The shooting resulted in the deaths of a father and a daughter who were just taking a nap in front of their house in said barangay that night.

 

The two were identified as Arnel Zapata, 44, and his 4-year-old daughter, Precious Zapata. The victim’s wife went to fetch water at that time, saving her from the tragic incident.

 

While they were napping, Dolores police said the two were shot several times by unidentified men onboard a motorcycle.

 

In his interview with local media in the area, Police Major Harold Alagao of Dolores Municipal Station relayed that the two casualties sustained various injuries to their bodies, resulting in their untimely deaths.

 

The father sustained gunshot wounds on his back, side, and on his legs, while the kid was shot to the back that went straight to her abdomen.


While they were swiftly ferried to a separate medical facility, both were declared dead on arrival.

 

At the crime scene, personnel of the Abra Provincial Forensic Unit recovered 11 empty shells believed to be from an M-16 rifle.

 

Meanwhile, police said there are already persons of interest in the crime, but their identities were put on hold as the investigation is still ongoing.
