Kalinga hosts DPWH-CAR 2021 2nd Regional Conference

Tabuk City, Kalinga―The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) held its 2nd Regional and Field Offices’ Staff Conference in Kalinga to present and discuss their accomplishments and concerns for the current year held in Bulanao, Tabuk City on March 18.

DPWH-CAR Assistant Regional Director Reynaldo Alconel, Engr. Samuel Bayangan of the Office of the Congressman, DPWH District Engineers, and DPWH -CAR Division Chiefs and staffs attended said event.

In a message, Engr. Samuel Bayangan, who represented Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang, commended the DPWH as the frontline office of all the infrastructure developments in the province.

“You will take note that the accomplishments of our congressional representative ket itagtag-ay na ti maysa nga opisina, no less than the DPWH, nu anya ti accomplishments ni Congressman Mangaoang dayta met ti accomplishments yu,” he remarked.

He mentioned several completed and on-going development projects under the Office of the Congressman through the DPWH of which the biggest, he cited, is the mega dike construction amounting to PhP5.5 billion.

DPWH-CAR Division Chiefs of financial, construction, planning and design, and other sections discussed their reports for citing several concerns of previous projects that needed to be resolved.

DPWH-CAR Assistant Regional Director Reynaldo Alconel also lauded the three DPWH District Engineering Offices (DEOs) included in the Top 10 highest in current year Disbursement Rate (DR) nationwide.

Among these are Upper Kalinga DEO under the leadership of District Engineer Eugene Batalao that garnered the 1st Place with 24.62% Disbursement Rate (DR). Abra DEO with 17.59% DR ranked 4th place and Mt. Province 2nd DEO that ranked 9th place with 12.62% DR.

Moreover, District Engineers have also presented the Status of Implementation of Agency Targets-Financial and Physical of their respective district offices.

The 2nd Regional and Field Offices’ Staff Conference is hosted by the DPWH-Lower Kalinga DEO and DPWH-Upper Kalinga DEO.
