Tabuk City, Kalinga – While the reputation and integrity of the Philippine National Police appear to have been affected due to the Tarlac shooting incident, Kalinga Police Provincial Director PCol. Davy Vicente Limmong assures that the Kalinga police uphold the law.

Limmong said, in an interview, that the action of the police officer involved in the killing in Tarlac does not reflect the action of the whole organization noting that what he did is not how the uniformed men address the given situation.

He guarantees that the Kalinga police are trained and that they know their job. He added that the personnel in the province respect and understand the law.

“Rest assured nga iti PNP tayo, karkaru ditoy Kalinga, they do respect the due process of law and they understand it,” he said.

Limmong added that the police personnel in the Cordillera are constantly reminded to always respect and uphold the law even under pressure. When their temperament gets tested by circumstances, they only use force and their firearms when their life and those of others are in danger.

“Those are only circumstances that you can only use your firearms. It will never be used under circumstances wherein haan ka met nga in danger[and others],” he explained.

Meanwhile, Limmong said that if the same incident in Tarlac happened in the province, the suspect has to face the rule of the law and that justice will be served to the victim.

“So rest assured nga nu just in case man nga adda iti mangyari, investigation has to be conducted and let the responsible face the consequences of his action,” he said.

Moreover, the Kalinga Police Provincial Director said that he understands the rage of the public on the shooting incident in Tarlac but reminded them not to generalize the police. He asked that people also consider the good work of the majority in the organization.

He pointed that the suspect has had records being arrested and charged. Additionally, investigation is ongoing, showing the action is not being condoned.

“I hope that ... they should not compare it and generalize it to other police officers, it will be unfair kadagiay daduma nga agararamid iti trabaho nga affected da met,” he said.

Earlier this December 22, Harry Roque told the public not to generalize the entire police force.

“Talagang walangya, bugok, gag* at talagang gusto nating batukan, hindi lang batok siguro kinakailanagang lang dumaan sa proseso. Pero hindi naman po silang lahat ay kagaya nitong siraulong ito,” he said.
