Tabuk City, Kalinga - Kalinga Governor Ferdinand B. Tubban called for the Cordillerans to work together to realize the dream of their forefathers for self-determination and make Cordillera an autonomous region.

The governor underlined this in his virtual message in observance of the Cordillera’s 34th Founding Anniversary with the theme, “Working together towards Cordillera Autonomy through Green Recovery.”

Tubban said ‘our forefathers fought for the conservation of our forests, rivers, and natural riches and it is their struggle that brought us together to be one region.’

“It is then imperative that we fight and care for the protection of our lands and conservation of resources, for these are indispensable for our survival in becoming an autonomous region,” the governor underscored.

With the threats of climate change, pollution, national disaster, and calamities, Tubban urged that “we cannot just sit back and leave our fate to chance.”

The governor emphasized the need for the public to stand up and work hand in hand to protect the mountains from destruction, rivers and streams from pollution, and forests from degradation.

Taking it from what their forefathers started, Tubban asked that communities must be prepared for autonomy through green recovery by protecting and developing our land and natural resources.

“Together we will work to prepare Cordillera for autonomy and later when the moment comes, together we will vote yes to our self-determination and together we will make the dream of our forefathers come true,” concludes the governor.
