Lubuagan Mayor confident of anti-coronavirus vaccine

Poblacion, Lubuagan - Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus expressed confidence on the safety and efficacy of the anti-coronavirus vaccine reiterating that the national government’s urgent inoculation plan is an indication that the government is prioritizing public’s health and safety.


“We are confident of the vaccine of course ta saan met nga agited ti gobyerno nu saan nga effective. Agpa-vaccine tayo tapno ag-normal ti trabaho tayo,” Dickpus said informing that she is just waiting for her schedule to be vaccinated.

Dickpus’ statement came after learning that health workers of the Kalinga District Hospital received their second and last dose of Sinovac, CoViD-19 vaccine on Friday, April 09, 2021. The medical frontliners completed their vaccination one month after they were inoculated with the first dose last March 11.


The mayor also informed that Lubuagan constituents have a positive response on the vaccine and there are iLubuagens who showed interest however, as per government’s directives, prioritized groups such as health workers and those in the front line are to be vaccinated first.


“Adu a ti agdamdamag ngem kunak ket aguray pay ta umuna dagiti priority nga isu dagitoy health workers who are working round the clock to ensure our safety against the virus. We need them to be safe, too,” Dickpus said.



Meanwhile, Kalinga District Hospital Chief Dr. Maria Rhoda Bravo said there were 26 KDH employees who got their final jab of Sinovac vaccine. While 4 employees from the KDH and 64 Rural Health Unit BHWs received their first shot of the vaccine.


Bravo emphasized that completing the vaccination will not only boost the immune system of the recipients but will also uplift their morale in fighting against the virus.

“Getting the first dose of Sinovac was not just for boosting the health care workers’ immune capability but more importantly it has certainly boosted their morale. Completing with the second dose now is hitching our hopes to victory in the fight against CoViD-19. Together we fight as one, we heal as one,” she said.


The vaccination program is through the Department of Health (DOH) “RESBAKUNA: Kasangga ng Bida,” which is part of the 600,000 one-dose vial donated by the Chinese government to the country.
