Tabuk City, Kalinga – Attorney Errol Comafay Jr. is asking for prayers for his and his wife’s safety following a suspicious incident his wife encountered on January 27, which he said follows a similar pattern to the incident that led to his father’s death.

In a Facebook post on January 28, Comafay—whose disqualification case in the May 2025 elections was recently overturned by the Supreme Court—shared that his wife visited her cousin in Appas on Tuesday evening for the first time without him.

When she was about to go home with her companions, they noticed large stones placed on the road. The anti-corruption advocate noted that the area has only a few houses and minimal vehicle traffic.

“Sadyang nais ng naglagay ng bato na bumaba ang pasahero ng sasakyan para tanggalin ang nakaharang na bato. Sa magkabilang gilid kung saan nilagay ang bato ay bakanteng lote na pwedeng pagtaguan ng sinumang may masamang balak,” he said.

Comafay said his wife refused to step out of the vehicle after recalling how his father was shot and killed when he got down from his car to remove a road blockade set up by assailants.

“Mabuti na lang at naikwento ko sa asawa ko ang nangyari noong binaril nila ang tatay ko, na naging dahilan ng kanyang kamatayan. May nilagay na harang sa kalsada at kinailangang bumaba ng tatay ko para tanggalin ito. Pagkatanggal niya ng harang ay binaril siya,” he said.

With this in mind, Comafay’s wife instead called her cousin, who arrived with a neighbor to remove the stones. He added that they spotted a suspicious vehicle parked nearby, which slowly drove away when the cousin and neighbor approached the area.

“Mabuti at alisto ang aking asawa kaya nakaiwas sila sa kapahamakan. Sana isama ninyo kami sa inyong mga panalangin,” Comafay expressed.
