Rizal, Kalinga – A man in Rizal kalinga indiscriminately fired his gun in front of a Panciteria in Calaocan late evening of Friday, March 26, causing alarm and prompting police officers to respond.

PCapt. George Acob, Rizal Acting Police Chief, said that at around 10 o’clock in the evening, they received a report from a citizen about several gun shots heard in front of 3Bs Panciteria.

Initial inquiry from the witnesses revealed that the man went to the said Panciteria and that before he finally left the said place, he fired his gun towards the sky.

“Ang sabi po nung mga tao doon, parang pumunta lang doon sa Panciteria and then paglabas, doon na nagpaputok na,” he said, adding that the man has no specific target.

The responding personnel, he said, pursued and went after the suspect but he was able to evade arrest. Recovered from the place of incident were 3 spent shells of Caliber 9mm.

Meantime, the acting chief of police reminded the public about the danger of indiscriminate firing since stray bullets could kill.

“Unang una po ‘yung paghahawak po ng baril na walang kaukulang dokumento ay pinagbabawal po ng batas po yan. Pangalawa po, kahit po registered firearm holders po tayo, hindi po tayo pwedeng magpaputok po na lang ng baril. Alam po natin na ‘yung bala to whom it may concern po yan,” he said.

The case will be a regular filing, Acob said, since there were witnesses as well as a complainant.
