Over 1M worth goat production project given to Tanudan farmers

Tanudan, Kalinga – 239 farmers who are members of three farmers associations in the Municipality of Tanudan received Friday, March 26, 263 heads of native goats (239 does, 24 bucks) from the Department of Agriculture through its Special Area for Agricultural Development program as a livelihood assistance.


The livelihood assistance aims to provide additional source of income for the recipients and sustain food security on communities where the dispersal took place.


The goat production project worth Php 1,052,000.00 is part of the interventions introduced by the DA-SAAD Program in the province under fiscal year 2020.

Of the total number of goats given, 112 of it were received by Bawak Darulog Allubaggan Pagugo farmer’s association, 64 heads by Pangol Farmers Improvement Organization and 63 heads by Mabaca Bumaruan Farmers Association.


Each of the recipients, SAAD-Kalinga said, were given a head of doe while the 24 bucks were given per farmer association.


To ensure that the goats are conditioned before turn over, the agency said that the Provincial Office for Veterinary Services led by Dr. Leonardo Damian inspected and treated the goats with antibiotics and vitamins.



The distribution of said goats were done in collaboration with the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Kalinga and the Municipal LGU of Tanudan,

The budget allocation for said program for 2020 was P46, 500,000 benefiting 19 barangays in Kalinga. For 2021, 14 barangays have been added to the beneficiary communities with P48, 000,000 budget allocation.


Interventions under the program include root crops production, vegetable production, fruit trees production, banana production, pineapple production, vinegar production, ginger production, swine raising, goat production, duck production and poultry production.
