Married Couple in Cagayan found dead in coastal waters of Sanchez Mira

Cagayan, Philippines – A married couple in their 50s was found floating and lifeless in the coastal waters in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan on October 21, 2022.

The couple was identified by their son as Rene Candinato, 55, and Nessy Candinato, 54, residents of Centro, Abulug, Cagayan. They were reported missing by their family on October 20 after they never went back home since they sailed to the sea to fish.

According to the Local Government Unit of Sanchez Mira, authorities first found the body of Rene floating along the coast in Barangay Masisit in Sachez Mira.

Sooner, they discovered the remains of Nessy in Barangay Tokitok, approximately 6 kilometers away from where they retrieved her husband.

Northern Cagayan District Hospital Chief of Hospital, Dr. Febe Villanueva confirmed that the cause of death of the couple is due to Cardiorespiratory Arrest, Hypoxemia, and Drowning
