‘No presence of firecracker sellers in Kalinga yet’ – BFP

Updated: Dec 23, 2020

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Bureau of Fire Protection – Kalinga has reported that there are no sellers of firecrackers in Kalinga as of yet which could be good news as the province would like to have a zero case on firecracker related injury these holidays.

BFP said no one has secured a Fire Safety Inspection Certificate (FSIC) for the manufacture, store, handle or use of any fireworks and pyrotechnic materials in the province.

BFP – Kalinga Provincial Director Supt. Allan Eballar, said that the certificate is the prerequisite for the granting of permit by the Philippine National Police.

“Kailangan makahingi muna sila nga FSIC sa BFP bago sila makakakuha ng permit na i-issue ng Philippine National Police that is in accordance with RA 7183,” he said.

Eballar explained that the reason why nobody secured an FSIC may be attributed to ordinances prohibiting the utilization of firecrackers.

“Siguro po dahil may mga munisipyo na may ordinance na bawal ang paputok. Pangalawa, siguro marami na ring nadala dahil sa paputok, maraming nasunog na bahay,” he said.

Those who wish to secure FSIC for the manufacture, display and sale, and fire safety clearance for fireworks display should go to the BFP station in their area to get them.

In 2019, at least 11 individuals in Kalinga secured fire safety inspection certificate.

Meanwhile, the BFP have intensified their information campaign with their personnel going to each barangay to coordinate and remind the community on safety and hazards in relation to firecrackers and fireworks.
