Tabuk City, Kalinga – Attorney Errol Comafay, whose votes in the May 2025 polls were considered stray by the Comelec, had already filed his Manifestation and Motion at the Supreme Court in his vow to fight for the trust and confidence given to him by the people of Tabuk City.

Comafay ran for Tabuk City Councilor on May 12 where he gained 43,321 votes out of the 65,210 number of ballots counted, placing him number one among the political aspirants. While he is over 6,000 votes ahead of his closest rival, Comafay was not proclaimed on May 13 because of the decision of the Comelec En Banc to disqualify him because of home address issues.

Comafay wrote “TARAKI NATIONAL RD PUROK 5” in his COC as his address. He explained that the ‘Taraki’ refers to the descriptive marker (name of his building) to distinguish his residence from other structures along the national road in Purok 5, Bulanao, adding that he had consistently used this as his address in various personal and official transactions.

Interestingly, it was also the same address he wrote in the COC he filed in 2021 when he attempted to run for Councilor in the 2022 polls, where he ranked number 11, but there was no disqualification sought due to home address issues.

Amid public knowledge of the Comelec’s cancellation of his COC, Comafay through his counsels argued that the electorate voted for him which reflects that the people have always known that the ‘Taraki’ refers to the lawyer’s address and that they themselves have been using the same term when they direct tricycle to the location.

Comafay filed his Manifestation and Motion at the Supreme Court on May 16, where he moved that the Highest Court direct the Comelec to proclaim him as elected Councilor of Tabuk City.

The lawyer shared with GURU Press Cordillera that he has been receiving overwhelming messages of encouragement from the people, assuring the people of Tabuk City that he is fighting for the votes given to him.

Now that everything is in the hands of the Highest Court of the Land, Comafay asked for his supporters’ continuous prayers that the Supreme Court rule in his favor.

“I have been receiving numerous messages of encouragement. I assure them that we will fight for their votes. I ask them to pray that the Supreme Court will rule in our favor,” he said.
