Aguinaldo, Ifugao – Following a groundbreaking ceremony held Thursday, October 27, the construction of the P246.31 million Ubao-Manaot farm-to-market road in Aguinaldo, Ifugao started.

The road which is the first subproject awarded to the Municipality of Aguinaldo under the Department of Agriculture’s Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) will be 8.397 kilometers in length stretching from Barangay Ubao to Barangay Monggayang in said town.

The project is in support of the cardava production of the municipality given that Aguinaldo is the top producer of cardava banana in Ifugao.

According to DA-PRDP-Cordillera, the FMR is expected to benefit 446 households within its influence area.

With the project, the production of said banana in the area is expected to increase. The road shall likewise lessen the travel time of motorists.

The FMR will serve as an alternate route to municipalities which include Alfonso Lista, Ifugao, and Paracelis, Mountain Province.

During the ceremony held at Sitio Potagon, Ubao, Aguinaldo, Mayor Gaspar Chilagan Jr. said the project is a historic one with the sacrifices and cooperation of the people involved in its implementation.

He further mentioned the FMR is the biggest project so far that was awarded to the municipality, thus the full support of every stakeholder is needed.

Meantime, DA-CAR Regional Executive Director Cameron Odsey applauded the support of leaders, officials, and the community towards the approval and implementation of the FMR subproject.

The director encouraged various stakeholders to watch over the construction of the FMR.

“From start to finish, the community, officials, contractor, and the DA will help each other to watch over this project so it will be completed in good quality which will soon contribute not only to the development of the agriculture industry but the locality as a whole,” Odsey said.

Others present during the ceremony were Ifugao Congressman Atty. Solomon R. Chungalao, 3W Builders, Inc. Representative Ramon Blackera, subproject beneficiaries, DA-CAR staff, and LGU officials.
