P2m Marijuana discovered inside SUV following a road accident in Tabuk

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A teenage rider ended in the hospital after his motorcycle was hit by a four-wheel vehicle that turned out to be ferrying around P2 million worth of suspected marijuana bricks on Sunday in Barangay Bado Dangwa.


According to the Traffic Management Unit, the collision happened along the sharp curve ascending portion of the national road in Bado Dangwa.


Authorities relate that the 18-year-old victim was coming from the direction of Calanan heading towards Bantay when he collided with the Toyota Fortuner that encroached on the opposite lane while traveling in the opposite direction.


The collision sent both vehicles to skid at proximately 15 meters before they plunged into a roadside ditch.

The rider was rushed to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital with injuries on his left foot and chest.


The unidentified driver of the Toyota Fortuner, however, escaped the scene, leaving the behind the vehicle which is registered to a certain Fernando Maccay.


Marijuana discovered


While the responding police were conducting their investigation, several suspected marijuana bricks were discovered inside the vehicle, which they immediately reported to the Tabuk City Drug Enforcement Unit.

With the help of the K-9 dog of the PECU Kalinga, around 20 bricks of alleged dried marijuana bricks worth around P2,448,000 were discovered inside the vehicle, underneath the car seat.


Authorities also recovered a keypad cellphone, certificate of registration and official receipt, advantage card registered under the name Martina B. Palicas and DBP ATM Card registered under the name of Jeffrey Tayab.


After onsite inventory, the pieces of evidence were brought to Tabuk City Police Station for documentation before they were turned over to the Kalinga Crime Laboratory Office for qualitative examination.
