TABUK CITY, Kalinga — Attorney Errol Comafay Jr. renewed his commitment to honest public service and his campaign against corruption after the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) ordered the convening of a Special City Board of Canvassers to proclaim him as a duly elected member of the Tabuk City Council.

"Ipinapangako ko na maglilingkod ako nang tapat at lalabanan ko ang katiwalian sa gobyerno," Comafay told Guru Press Cordillera following the issuance of the Writ of Execution by the COMELEC on July 31, directing a Special City Board of Canvassers to convene and proclaim him.

Comafay, who has built his public image as an outspoken anti-corruption advocate, said his impending proclamation is not only a personal victory but also a triumph for Tabukeños who continue to hope for reforms and good governance.

"Ito ay tagumpay ng lahat ng mga taga-Tabuk na umaasa ng pagbabago sa gobyerno. Salamat sa lahat ng nagtiwala at patuloy na sumusuporta sa ating mga ipinaglalaban. Salamat sa lahat ng nagdasal para sa ating tagumpay," he said.

The lawyer topped the race for the Tabuk City Council in the May 2025 elections, garnering 43,321 votes. However, he was not proclaimed after the COMELEC disqualified him. He continued to challenge the ruling by filing petitions and manifestations until the Supreme Court reversed the COMELEC's decision, paving the way for his proclamation.

With his assumption to office now imminent, Comafay said he remains committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity in public service.

He also appealed to Tabukeños to continue supporting his efforts, stressing that meaningful reforms can only be achieved through the collective participation of both public officials and citizens.

"Umaasa ako na patuloy ninyo akong sasamahan at palagian ninyo akong gagabayan. Kung sama-sama tayo ay posibleng magkaroon ng matinong gobyerno sa Tabuk," he said.

The Special City Board of Canvassers is scheduled to convene at 2:00 p.m. on August 10 at the COMELEC Session Hall in Intramuros, Manila, to formally proclaim Comafay as a city councilor of Tabuk.
