Pasil, Kalinga – The municipal government unit of Pasil, Kalinga is working out for the implementation of traffic rerouting due to road cut along the Lonong Section of Lubuagan - Batong Buhay – Abra Road in Barangay Dangtalan.

The road was among those heavily damaged during the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm “Paeng” that ravaged the country in the past weeks.

On Friday, November 04, Councilors Eugene Batalao Sr. and Christopher Canao coordinated with the Upper Kalinga District Engineering Office of Department of Public Works and Highways through District Engineer Teddy Owek, Maintenance Chief Joel Bucao, and Construction Chief Julius Garcia regarding the rerouting plan.

Batalao, in an interview, disclosed that in response, Owek requested heavy equipment such as a backhoe from the regional office of DPWH, necessary for the creation of an alternative route.

Regional Director Khadaffy D. Tanggol sent the needed equipment and is yet to arrive.

“Idiay ayan ti road cut, above the road maikan ti ramp na tapos agaramid kalsada na idiay ngato ti retaining wall, maiwasan lang diay road cut,” said the councilor.

The traffic rerouting, he added, may take only three days to finish if the weather is favorable.

Bayanihan in Pasil

Meanwhile, the residents in the village can be seen on social media displaying “bayanihan” or the spirit of communal unity and cooperation as they make bridge out of bamboos in an attempt to restore the wiped out road in another area in Dangtalan.

Photos showing other infrastructure damages including rock and soil collapse left by “Paeng” in Pasil were uploaded by Mayor Alfredo “Chao-ig” Malannag Jr. who reminded his constituents to “be extra cautious as we work out for the rebuild of the damages.”
