Region CAR expects more rain as Ulysses comes in


PAG-ASA reports that ULYSSES” will bring moderate to heavy rains over Babuyan Islands, mainland Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte, Aurora, and the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands. Light to moderate with at times heavy rains will be experienced over Metro Manila, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and the rest of Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, and CALABARZON.


Tropical Depression "ULYSSES" was estimated at 800 km East of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 55 km/h. It is moving Northwestward at 15 km/h. Tail-end of a cold front affecting Extreme Northern Luzon.

Flooding, including flashfloods, and rain-induced landslides may occur during heavy or prolonged rainfall especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards and/or those that received significant antecedent rainfall.

Although not under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal #1, the outer region of the tropical depression’s circulation will bring occasional gusty condition over the Kalayaan Islands. The Northeast Monsoon enhanced by “TONYO” will bring strong to gale-force winds over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and the northern portion of mainland Cagayan.

Meantime, Tropical storm "Tonyo" is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
