Baguio City, Philippines — A taxi driver in Baguio City prevented a possible robbery after seeking police assistance upon noticing that one of his five passengers had a gun on November 5, 2022.

The five suspects were identified by the police as Melvin Akisio, 18; Renzo Lucutan, 19; Jomar Domingo, 20; and two minors.

Prior to their arrest, these five individuals hailed and boarded the taxi and instructed the driver to bring them to Camp 6 in Tuba, the Philippine National Police Cordillera reported.

However, while the taxi was traversing Kennon Road, the driver claimed to have heard a cocking of a gun from the backseat.

The driver made an alibi that he had to check his flat tire. When he got down from the taxi, it was then he discreetly confirmed that one of his passengers was carrying a gun.

Trusting his instincts, the taxi driver was said to have driven his taxi once again, made a U-turn towards the QCP border checkpoint, and sought help from the police officers there.

This resulted in the confiscation of a piece of Cal 9mm pistol and the arrest of the 5 passengers. All the suspects were brought to Kennon Road Police Station.
