Tabuk City, Kalinga – With the formal launch of modernized public utility vehicles (PUVs) for the Tabuk City–Tinglayan route, Mayor Charles Abay expressed optimism for safer, more efficient, and more comfortable travel for commuters.

The PUVs were unveiled and launched by KALTRANSDECO during a ceremony held in front of Tabuk City Hall on April 23. The two modernized units are equipped with air conditioning, CCTV cameras, and an automated fare system, which will be activated once the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)–Cordillera issues an official fare matrix.

Through Municipal Administrator Atty. Mark Dave Bang-as, Mayor Abay conveyed his support for KALTRANSDECO’s initiative, noting that it will provide improved transportation services for residents of Tinglayan. He added that the new units will benefit commuters, including students, workers, and families who regularly travel between Tinglayan and Tabuk.

“This improved transportation is vital to local development as it enhances access to basic services, trade, tourism, and other economic opportunities. Isu nga agyaman tayo unay iti daytoy nga initiatibo iti KALTRANSDECO ta tattan ken adda iti safer, more efficient, ken more comfortable nga PUVs nga pagsakayan dagiti commuters tayo nga mapan Tabuk wenno mapan Tinglayan,” the mayor said.

The two PUV units are scheduled to begin operations on Monday, April 27, with two trips daily between Tabuk and Tinglayan. The initial fare from Tabuk to Poblacion, Tinglayan is set at P250.
