Tinglayan, Kalinga soon to have its Umunno-unnoy Hospital

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Tinglayan’s dream of having its own medical health facility is turning into reality.

Mayor Sacrament Gumilab relayed Monday, April 14 that the edifice is set to be constructed anytime this year with the regional health department furnishing the local government a ‘permit to construct’.

The permit gives the go signal to the local government to proceed with the building’s construction.

The lawyer-politician said he and the local officials also had a fruitful meeting with the provincial governor last week as the latter backed the pursuit.

It can be recalled that in 2022, the provincial government sought for the realignment of the fund allotted for the construction of the health facility due to the non-issuance of DOH permit for the construction of the building that time.

The lack of funds in providing wages for health staff by the provincial government adds up to said reason since even there is an infirmary if there are no personnel to man it, it shall not serve its purpose.

However, Tinglayan officials opposed the decision, and committed to expedite the process of getting the needed requirements for the project to push through.

They also reasoned out that funds for the health personnel’s wages can come from other sources and not only from the PLGU.

Their collaborative efforts paid off, fulfilling the wish of the people of Tinglayan to have their own hospital. With this, they shall no longer need to journey for a couple of hours to Tabuk City and even to Bontoc for their medical needs.

“We, the officials of Tinglayan felt glad after receiving the permit as this project is one of our topmost priorities considering that our beloved municipality is one of the places in Kalinga that does not have a district hospital,” Gumilab conveyed.

Apart from said development, the mayor shared that the construction of Poblacion-Tulgao-Butbut Road was also prioritized for implementation this year.
