Tinglayan, Kalinga—‘Project Funsi’ researchers in the five sub-tribes of Tinglayan are now in the process of validating the data gathered for said historical documentation project of the Local Government of Tinglayan.

Municipal Tourism Officer Johny Tiggangay in his report said that the researchers for Dananao and Butbut sub-tribes are still on their data-gathering stage.

Project Funsi was conceptualized to record the culture, tradition, and history of the yTinglayan people through interview, document review, and observation (IDO) technique.

A historical document will then be published with the intention to educate the younger and future generations. The book will serve as a reference for them to understand better their roots, and in the process would help preserve their identity as a people.

The project is focused on documenting historical accounts about the yTongrayans, yFutfuts, ySumachers, yFasaos, yChananaos, yFangads and the yTurcaos sub-tribes.

Tiggangay said that one-on-one interviews were done followed by a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) during the validation.

FGD, as previously explained by Municipal Information Officer Larae Lactao, involves the gathering of elders for discussion and possible debates to help in verifying the validity of previously gathered data during one-on-one interviews.

On Thursday, the validation team together with the personnel of the Municipal Tourism Office headed to Barangays Belong Man-ubal and Sumadel I and II for the fact-checking.

Tiggangay added that they will be visiting other barangays next week to continue with the validation process.

“After validation, nu okay ken clear wennu awanen ti masaludsud kadagituy elders tayu ket nalpasen, for compilation and editing laengen,” Tinggangay said.

As recalled, the book project of the municipal LGU was launched in February this year.
