What did TAMPCO do during the height of pandemic crisis?

Tabuk City, Kalinga- During the first KOOP Kapehan program held at Las Vegas Convention Center, Dagupan Weste on May 28, 2021, the Tabuk Multi-Purpose Cooperative, the largest COOP in the province, shared their experience on social responsibility, underscoring the importance for organizations to contribute in the alleviation of sufferings due to Covid-19 crisis.


Like many places in the country, Kalinga Province experienced critical alert levels, ranking 3rd in number of cases in one day on January 17, 2021 and considered a high-risk area. On April 24, 2021, bed capacity of hospitals reached full occupancy.


Thus, measures of surgical lockdowns were imposed along with other restrictions.


Acting CEO Reverend Claudio Bagano highlighted that TAMPCO’s response was first to provide needed supplies: hygiene kits, beddings, drinking water and food and other necessities to isolation units and checkpoints.


Additionally, the cooperative did medical outreach and immune boosting activities as well as sponsored projects for schools and wash facilities for partner schools. Moreover, hazard pay was also provided to their frontliners and aid or ‘ayuda’ was distributed to members.

Social and medical assistance, mortuary aid


Aside from the community and members’ benefits, Bagano presented a statistical tabulation of the several aid provided for its members such as social and medical assistance, mortuary aid and TAMPCO’s Damayan Pangkalusugan Program.


In the report, TAMPCO spent a total amount of 44, 738, 875.96 pesos from various fundings for their projects and programs like medical missions, tree-planting activities, and other activities. The amount likewise include expenses incurred in implementing those projects and programs which were carried out with partners.


Bagano said that alongside those who were assisted by the COOP, there are also members of the workforce who benefitted from the programs.


“Apart ken dagiti members and community ti cooperative ket pati dagiti 60 officers, 40 regular staff, 14 casual ken 18 nga probationary employees; a total of more than 120 individuals nga adda idiay workforce tayu nga matultulongan met laeng ti TAMPCO” he said.

As of December 2020, TAMPCO recorded a total of 34, 144 regular members and more than 20 partner schools.


TAMPCO is at the top among the other cooperatives in the province in terms of assets with P2, 024, 089, 177.02 followed by Tabuk Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (TAFAMULCO) with P612, 421, 597, Provincial Engineering Office Personnel Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PEOPMPC) with P339, 601, 202, St. Thomas Credit Cooperative (STCC) with P261, 252, 282 and BIBAK Multi-Purpose Cooperative (BIBAKMPC) with P259, 938, 128 respectively.
