‘Your votes can bring about the change you seek’- Magalong to Baguio youth on upcoming BSKE

Baguio City, Philippines - With the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong stressed to the youth the importance of their active participation during the “Gen Z Votes” forum and workshop on Monday, September 4 at the Plaza Lodge Hotel.

During the activity, Magalong explained the importance of votes to the participating young men and women, emphasizing that it is their fundamental right to choose their future leaders.

“Your vote matters…and collectively, your votes can bring about the change you seek. It is not just a privilege, it is a duty…one that will determine the course of our local governance for years to come” said the mayor.

He then underscored their increasing role in shaping today's society, stating that the torch of leadership is already in their hands.

"As we look at the political landscape, it becomes increasingly evident that the torch of leadership is already in the hands of your generation. The decisions made within our barangays and Sangguniang Kabataan have a profound impact on our daily lives," he added.

With the theme “Inspiring Change through the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections”, said event aimed to increase the youth’s awareness and encourage them to participate in the upcoming BSKE on October 30, 2023.

It was organized by the Ateneo School of Government through a non-partisan and pro-democracy coalition.
