TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan — Twelve years of allegedly changing names and assuming fake identities came to an end for two brothers wanted for murder after police finally tracked them down in separate operations in Metro Manila.

The brothers, both working as security guards, were arrested separately on August 14 and 15 by tracker teams of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Pasig City and Marikina City.

The suspects, aged 41 and 43, were wanted for murder under warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court, Second Judicial Region, Branch 2 in Tuguegarao City. The warrants carried no recommended bail.

According to the PNP, the brothers allegedly used different names and fabricated identities over the years in an effort to evade arrest.

But after more than a decade on the run, their assumed identities apparently could no longer keep them ahead of the law.

The 41-year-old suspect, identified by the alias “Jose,” was arrested on August 14 along Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Avenue in Pasig City.

His 43-year-old brother, alias “Orlando,” was arrested the following day in Barangay Malanday, Marikina City.

The arrests ended the brothers’ 12-year effort to allegedly conceal their identities and avoid being located by authorities.

Through the PNP Public Information Office, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said warrants of arrest remain enforceable regardless of how long wanted persons manage to evade authorities.

“These arrests show that a long period of evasion does not erase a standing warrant or lessen the police resolve to locate persons sought by the courts. We will sustain focused tracking efforts and ensure that arrests are conducted lawfully and with full respect for due process,” he said.

Following their arrests, the two brothers were brought to Malate Police Station 9 before their turnover to the court that issued their warrants.

After 12 years of allegedly living under assumed identities, the brothers’ attempt to stay ahead of the law has finally come to an end.
