Santa Marcela, Apayao – About P988,000 worth of grant in the form of properties were awarded by the Santa Marcela MDRRMC led by Mayor Evelyn Martinez to the 13 barangays in town on Friday, Jan.24 in front of the EKB gymnasium.

These properties acquired stemmed from the barangay councils’ approved proposals, charged from the LGU’s 5% reprogramming fund, granting P76,000 each barangay.

The Barangays of Malekkeg, Emiliana, San Carlos, San Mariano, San Antonio, and Panay represented by their Barangay captains received one (1) unit of motorcycle with Kulong-kulong each, while the barangays of Marcela and Imelda were recipients of 2 solar panels. Barangay Sipa and Barangay Nueva were given one (1) generator and one (1) chainsaw, respectively.

Further, Barangays Consuelo, San Juan, and Barocboc were granted, for their chosen proposals, the repair of their patrol cars.

LDRRM Officer Rodel A. Ballinan explained the awarded equipment aimed at empowering the barangays and mobilizing them during emergencies and calamities. MDRMMC chair Mayor Martinez during the awarding encouraged the Punong Barangays to maximize the utilization of said equities.

Transportation of barangay workers, disposal of waste, and emergency transport were among those uses of the motor vehicles, according to the punong barangays who received them. Recipients of chainsaws, solar panels, and the budget for patrol cars’ repair were equally grateful for said provision.
