2 cops killing another cop dismissed from service

Tabuk City, Kalinga—Two police officers in Quezon City involved in shooting their fellow police were officially dismissed from service last May 30.

In the Police investigation, Police Corporal Higinio Wayan, 31, a native of Buguias, Benguet was shot and killed by Police Corporal Sherwin Rebot who at first denied the killing and instead put a story that Wayan committed suicide.

The dismissal order of Police Corporal Sherwin Rebot and his accomplice Police Corporal Harold Mendoza came after Philippine National Police Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar signed the papers.

According to the PNP, Rebot is guilty of Grave Misconduct, violation of Presidential Decree 1829 or obstruction of justice, Simple Irregularity in the Performance of Duty, Less Grave Neglect of Duty and Conduct Unbecoming of a Police Officer.

Mendoza, on the other hand, is found guilty of Less Grave Neglect of Duty, Simple Irregularity in the Performance of Duty, and Conduct Unbecoming of a Police Officer.

Eleazar, in his statement, expressed that this may serve as a warning to all police officers, saying that he will not tolerate such misconducts, stating that “walang puwang sa PNP ang mga utak kriminal.”

Rebot was also charged for murder and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, while Mendoza was charged with murder by conspiracy and obstruction of justice.
