Saclag now bound to compete for GOLD in 2026 Asian Games

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Kalinga’s very own Jean Claude Saclag is now bound to compete for a gold medal in the ongoing 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.

 

Saclag advanced in the MMA men’s traditional – 65kg final after defeating Japan’s Daisuke Murayama in a unanimous decision on Monday, September 21, 2026. Saclag is set to face Tajikistan's Otabek Rajabov in the finals tomorrow, September 22.

 

Talking with One Sports following his victory, Saclag expressed he is confident heading into tomorrow’s final match, saying, “sanay naman tayong lumaban sa finals kaya mas lalo tayong na-inspire kasi iba pa rin ito, Asian Games ito.”

 

Meanwhile, Philippines is yet to receive a gold medal in the ongoing competition.

 

As of 10:30 p.m. of September 20, China is leading the race with 11 gold medals, 6 silver, and 3 bronze. Coming second is host country Japan with 6 gold, 7 silver, and 7 bronze.
