200 yKalinga students benefit from DOLE’s employment program

Tabuk City, Kalinga - A total of 200 students in the province of Kalinga will benefit from the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), as they are set to work for 10 days with P512.00 daily wage.


Implemented by the country’s Department of Labor and Employment, in partnership with the Department of Education, the program aims to provide temporary employment to poor but deserving students, likewise to provide them valuable work experience.

Of the total student beneficiaries, 70% of them are from Kalinga State University, 10% are senior high schools, and the rest are students from private colleges in the province, the Provincial Public Information Office announced on Thursday, August 17.


Before placing the deserving students in their respective work areas, DOLE-Kalinga, in collaboration with the Public Employment Service Office, has successfully organized them through an orientation program held at the Provincial Hall on said date.


As for their salary, the fund will be provided by the Office of the Provincial Governor and will be managed by PESO-Kalinga Office.


Meanwhile, Governor James S. Edduba, through his Executive Assistant III Aira Edduba, emphasized during the orientation program that supporting students and schools are his top priority since education is one of the main focus of his administration.
