Cauayan City, Isabela – A 25-year-old man was found dead inside the machine shop where he worked, allegedly after habitually consuming excessive amounts of energy drinks.

According to a police report obtained by XFM Santiago, the Cauayan City Police Station received a phone call from a concerned citizen around 8:00 a.m. on October 28, reporting the discovery of a man’s body inside a machine shop in Purok 2, Minante 2, Cauayan City.

The victim, identified only as “Mel” for privacy, was employed as a machine operator and resided in Purok 3 of the same barangay.

Police investigators, together with personnel from the Cauayan City Satellite Forensic Unit, immediately responded to the scene.

At the site, one of Mel’s co-workers told police that he went to wake him up for work but found him unresponsive. Upon checking, he realized that Mel was no longer breathing. The employer was immediately notified and sought police assistance.

Initial investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of death and to rule out any foul play.

The co-worker further revealed that Mel frequently consumed more than five bottles of energy drink a day to stay alert and awake during work.

As of this writing, authorities have yet to establish the official cause of death pending the results of the investigation.
