Tinglayan, Kalinga – Twenty-six Tinglayans are now ready to be reintegrated into their communities following their graduation from the government’s rehabilitation program for persons who used drugs.

The graduates officially completed their Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP) on Monday, March 4, 2024.

The rehabilitation program, which focused on healing the body, mind, and soul, followed a modular scheme of rehabilitation comprising a series of lectures, counseling, and therapeutic activities.

The beneficiaries were provided spiritual guidance, moral recovery lectures, lectures on the disadvantages of drugs, and counseling sessions with family members.

Guiding them in the rehabilitation process are the personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, Municipal Health Office, religious sectors, Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council, barangay officials, and the community.

Following the completion of the program, they are expected to undergo a reintegration process where various livelihood assistance will be provided to them. This would eventually help them build a brighter future, not just for themselves but also for their families.

Meanwhile, during the graduation ceremony spearheaded by PNP Tinglayan, Mayor Sacrament Gumilab, and other officials present reaffirmed their continued support for the graduates to aid them in finding themselves again and becoming more productive citizens.

“This graduation ceremony truly symbolized a powerful journey towards recovery. It not only marks an end but also symbolizes a promising beginning for the graduates and their communities, echoing the municipality's rallying cry, 'Tongrayan Umunno-unnoy,” Gumilab emphasized.

As recalled, the listing of drug pushers and users started in 2016. Efforts to provide community-based treatment and rehabilitation services followed, helping a number of drug-involved individuals through the years.
