3 Mt. Province cops wounded in line of duty given medals


Mountain Province, Philippines – Three police officers in Bauko, who were wounded while on duty, were given medals and assistance this October 16.


These police non-commissioned officers are Police Senior Master Sergeant (PSMS) William Maganon, PSMS Ruben Aronchay, and PSMS Wilfred Manacnis.


Philippine National Police Cordillera reported that Maganon and Aronchay received ‘Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting’. Maganon’s medal was awarded during a simple ceremony at the headquarters of the 1st Mountain Provincial Mobile Force Company while Aronchay’s was presented at the Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital where he was recovering.

The ‘Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting’ was given to the two after they were injured due to the explosion of an improvised shotgun or booby trap, while investigating in Mt. Ungyod, Betwagan, Sadanga, a disputed area between the Butbut and Betwagan tribes.


As for Manacnis, a ‘Medalya ng Kagalingan’ was awarded to him after he met an accident while rendering duty after the onslaught of Typhoon Maring in Cordillera.


Meantime, PNP Cordillera Regional Director Police Brigadier General Ronald Lee personally presented all the medals during his recent visit to Mountain Province.
