Irrigation canal in Tabuk City takes life of 4-yr.-old boy

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A preschooler and a 7-year-old simply wanted to bathe in the irrigation canal when tragedy struck on Wednesday afternoon, February 21, 2024.

The victim, a 4-year-old boy from Nueva Ecija currently residing at the CARAA ground, went to the irrigation canal after 2:00 p.m. with a 7-year-old boy from Claveria, Cagayan, also residing in the same area.

The other boy described to the police that they were bathing on the shallow side of the irrigation canal when the 4-year-old suddenly got swept into the deeper water and drowned.

Authorities, upon notification of the incident, immediately launched a search and rescue operation that lasted for nearly five hours.

The preschooler’s body was found around 7:53 p.m. and was taken to the morgue.
