Tabuk City, Kalinga – Bouncing back after a source of livelihood is gone is not easy.

However, for the forty individuals who were evicted from their selling spots in Tabuk City recently, starting anew is no longer a problem as the provincial government of Kalinga sourced out funds from the Department of Labor and Employment – Kalinga dedicated to them.

Through the initiative of Governor James Edduba, he was able to source out funds, which were awarded to the provincial government on Wednesday, May 1, in the form of acheck.

The livelihood assistance is made possible through DOLE’s Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).

DILP is the agency’s initiative pursuant to the government’s inclusive growth program, which targets providing more jobs to Filipinos, thereby reducing unemployment in the country.

Under said program, assistance in the form of equipment will later be awarded to the displaced vendors, particularly those who once sold various merchandise along the national road in Bulanao, specifically at the side of the Kalinga Provincial Hospital going up to the capitol grounds.

Provincial Information Officer Dionica Legasi, in an interview, underscored that only those who have submitted their proposals will be catered in the program.

“40 lang sila…It would be in the form of livelihood equipment, depende sa sinubmit nila na proposal…minsan, upuan, lutuan, tents, ref, depende sa proposal na sinubmit nila,” she conveyed.

She further disclosed that various offices are involved in facilitating the implementation of the program, which include the Public Employment Services Office, DOLE-Kalinga and the office of the governor.
