57-yr.-old man in Cagayan charged for raping niece 10 times


Cagayan, Philippines – A girl in Gonzaga, Cagayan was only 16 when her 57-year-old uncle raped her.


Police authorities in said town were informed about the incident in December 2021 after the victim’s family came to their station to file a case, Gonzaga Chief of Police, PCapt. Orlando Capili revealed through the Cagayan Provincial Information Office.

The minor victim was then living with the accused hidden under the name 'Caloy' after her mom who is working overseas entrusted her to her sister, the suspect’s wife. It was noted that the minor’s parents were separated and that her father was in Abra.


While she was under the care of her maternal aunt, the suspect allegedly took advantage of her.


Ten counts of rape in relation to Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act were filed against the suspect.


The 57-year-old accused willingly submitted himself to the police who came to serve his warrant of arrest issued by Judge Conrado Tabacco of Branch 9 Regional Trial Court, Aparri on May 15, 2023.
