TABUK CITY, Kalinga — A motorcycle thief deliberately tilted a CCTV camera upward to avoid identification before stealing a 27-year-old resident’s motorcycle in Barangay Appas here early Tuesday, October 20.

The victim’s black Honda XRM 125 was stolen in front of his residence along Bagni Street, where he had parked it overnight.

CCTV footage showed the helmet-wearing suspect arriving at around 5 a.m. and turning the surveillance camera upward before tampering with the motorcycle’s lock and taking the vehicle.

The suspect’s identity remains unknown as the helmet and the camera’s altered position prevented the victim from clearly identifying the individual.

The victim said he installed CCTV cameras at their home following reports of theft in their neighborhood, including the disappearance of livestock such as ducks.

Despite the security measure, the suspect managed to steal his motorcycle after apparently noticing the camera.

The victim is appealing to anyone who may recognize the suspect or have information about the whereabouts of his motorcycle to report it to the Tabuk City Police Station.

He said any information that could lead to the recovery of his vehicle would be greatly appreciated.

Meanwhile, data from the Kalinga Police Provincial Office showed that four vehicle theft incidents were recorded in the province from July to September 2026. Police also documented three other theft incidents during the third quarter of the year.
