6 Cordillerans join list of finalists for Top Outstanding Students of the Philippines

Baguio City, Philippines - Six of the 30 finalists for the Top 10 Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) 2021 are from the Cordillera Administrative Region.

TOSP are recognized for their exemplary contribution to their school and community while maintaining excellent academic records.

The Cordilleran finalists are Alladin Bañez from Benguet State University, Denmark Butic from Ifugao State University, Edgar Christian Dirige from Saint Louis University, Von Ameri Escobar from Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology, Austin Miguelle Ogad from Saint Louis University, and Joven Wadwachan from Baguio Central University.

Said finalists, who graduated in 2018, gathered on October 23, 2021, in a three-day virtual program “to strengthen their character as individuals, fortify their values as servant leaders, and reinforce their belief in themselves and their countrymen.”

TOSP Foundation Inc. President Marie Concepcion-Young, in her message, underscored that each of the finalists “has their own story on inspiring excellence, servant-leadership, and culture of concern.”

"I am #BAYANi because I practice sacrifice every day to make my life and the life of people around me a little bit better,” Bañez stated through the TOSP page.

Meanwhile, Butic believes "I am #BAYANi for I have reverberated myself as an accomplished youth, a teacher, a researcher and an advocate to my fellow students, the youth and my community.”

After the formation program, the Top 10 Outstanding Students of the Philippines will be revealed and awarded on December 1, 2021.

After the awarding, Concepcion-Young expressed hope that the young leaders will continue to serve, saying that “it is only in service that we find a deeper meaning to our existence.”
