63-yr.-old woman shot multiple times in Bangued, Abra; Gunman still at large

Bangued, Abra -The latest shooting incident in Abra happened in Bangued on April 23, a day after a shootout between two political groups in Tayum. 

 

According to a local media outlet near the area, a 63-year-old woman is the latest victim of a shooting in said province. The incident occurred in Sitio Calumbitin, Barangay San Antonio, Bangued, at around 11:00 a.m. on April 23. 

 

The victim was identified by the Abra police as Nona Bigornia Castillo, a resident of Barangay Bañacao, Bangued. In the initial investigation of the Bangued Municipal Police Station, Nona, together with his friend, Marife Paa Castillo, 29, was on board a Motoposh Pinoy 155 tricycle when an unidentified assailant from behind suddenly shot her multiple times.

 

The suspect fled the crime scene on board a black motorcycle, reportedly heading toward San Antonio Proper. 

 

Nona sustained multiple gunshot wounds to various parts of her body from the attack. Notified of the incident, the responding police officers proceeded to the area and rushed Nona to the Abra Provincial Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. 

 

At present, police are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend the gunman.

 

It can be recalled that on April 21, a man was killed in Tayum after the convoy of the town mayoral candidate was ambushed while plying in Sitio Agbuhay, Barangay Budac. The casualty was one of the suspects identified by the police as Jay-Ar Tanura.
