“Bringing home the championship title was truly overwhelming and unforgettable for OBS Rebel Movers.” - Daryl Bersalona Blaza

Under the blazing lights and thunderous cheers at the Aseana City Event Grounds in Parañaque City, a group of young dancers from the mountains of Bangued stood frozen in disbelief as their name echoed across one of the country’s biggest dance festival stages.

For the members of the OBS Rebel Movers, the moment was more than just a championship victory — it was proof that dreams born in humble communities can reach the world stage.

After clinching the regional championship title at the World Supremacy Battlegrounds 2026 Manila 2.0 on May 16, the Abrenian dance crew earned the right to represent the Philippines in the international finals in Hong Kong — a milestone that now places Abra on the global dance map.

Held in partnership with the Howler’s Festival, the competition fused street dance, music, and festival culture into a high-energy showcase that gathered elite crews from across the country. Major divisions included Open, Cell, Young Guns, School Division, Junior Division, and Monster Division, alongside the event’s first-ever Crew vs. Crew (5v5) battle format.

But behind the explosive choreography and synchronized routines was a story of sacrifice, exhaustion, and unwavering determination.

In an interview with Guru Press, founder and choreographer Daryl Bersalona Blaza shared that winning the championship was an emotional and unforgettable experience for the entire team.

“Bringing home the championship title was truly overwhelming and unforgettable for OBS Rebel Movers,” Blaza said.

“We felt proud, honored, and emotional because we were not only representing ourselves as dancers, but also carrying the name of Abra on a national stage,” he added.

For the young dancers, the victory was not achieved overnight. Before stepping onto the national spotlight, the team endured countless hardships behind the scenes — balancing studies, work, family responsibilities, and rigorous training schedules while struggling with limited financial resources.

There were days of physical exhaustion, pressure, and uncertainty. Some members trained despite fatigue and personal struggles, driven only by passion and belief in their shared dream.

“To all aspiring dancers, never stop believing in your talent. Success does not happen overnight. There will be struggles, criticism, and failures, but those experiences will help you grow stronger. Stay humble, stay dedicated, and keep pushing yourself to improve every day,” he added.
