Benguet – Honoring their commitment and service to the nation, the two military pilots who died in the plane crash in Benguet were posthumously awarded the Silver Wing Medal by the Philippine Air Force (PAF) on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

The Silver Wing Medal is awarded by the military in recognition of the outstanding duty, bravery, and specialized skills demonstrated by PAF airmen, crew members, and supporting security or rescue personnel during military and humanitarian operations.

1LT Ruth Angelique Pasos and 2LT Cherky Embudo received the honor during arrival rites held at the Base Operations of Colonel Hesus Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.

The ceremony was attended by the families of the fallen officers, who received their remains alongside PAF Commanding General Arthur Cordura, as well as PAF general officers, senior officers, and enlisted personnel.

Pasos and Embudo were the casualties of the May 20 plane crash in Tuba. The two officers were aboard the SF-260 trainer aircraft with tail number 10-39, one of the 11 aircraft that departed from Fernando Air Base in Lipa City en route to Baguio City when the accident occurred around 10:20 a.m. in Cabuyao, Poblacion.

Pasos was a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 2019, while Embudo belonged to the PMA Class of 2024.

On May 21, the Philippine Military Academy also paid tribute to its two fallen alumni.

“The Academy extends its deepest condolences to their families, loved ones, mistahs, and comrades in arms. Their service, courage, and dedication to duty will always be remembered,” the Academy stated.
