158,555 iKalingas set to vote on May 12; Tabuk (the battle ground) shares 74,572 votes

Tabuk City, Kalinga - Over 158,000 registered voters across Kalinga are set to make their voices heard on May 12 as they ink the political candidates who, for them, will make further developments in the province and will transform their lives. 

 

Based on the data obtained by the Guru Press Cordillera from the Commission on Elections - Kalinga, there are 158,555 registered voters in the province, which is 3% higher compared to the 154,423 documented in 2022. 

 

Of the 158,555 registered voters this year, 82,194 are males and 76,361 are females. 

 

Leading the province in voter population is Tabuk City, with a commanding 74,572 registered voters across 43 barangays. 

 

The municipality of Pinukpuk follows with 21,564 voters across 23 barangays ; Rizal with 14,299 (14 barangays); Tinglayan with 11,260 (20 barangays); Tanudan with 10,017 (16 barangays); Balbalan with 9,361 (14 barangays); Lubuagan with 9,890 (14 barangays); and Pasil with 7,592 (14 barangays). 

 

On election readiness, COMELEC Kalinga assured voters that the Automated Counting Machines (ACMs) are in place and functioning. There are also technicians on standby to fix any technical problems that may occur during the elections. 

 

For peace and security, meantime, there are a total of 850 personnel deployed by the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, under the leadership of PCOL James D. Mangili, and the Philippine Army, under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Jimrhic B. Obias, the Commander of the 103rd Infantry Battalion under the 5th Infantry Division. 

 

Said government forces are stationed at polling stations to prevent disruptions or violent incidents during the elections.
