Santa Marcela Mayor Martinez inducts 3 newly appointed Barangay Officials replacing deceased public servants

Santa Marcela, Apayao - Mayor Evelyn B. Martinez on Thursday, May 8 swore into office the three (3) newly appointed Barangay officials in town - two of them are Punong Barangays and one Sk chairman as replacements following the death of the 3 barangay officials lately. 

These personnel who took their oath were Romeo Julian Jr. to fill in the position of the late Punong Barangay Jan Michael A. Valencia of Nueva,  Evelyn G. Yadao for the late Punong Barangay Joe Dumaguing of San Carlos, and Mae Agelica Rebiajos for the position of the late SK chairman F-jay Paragua of San Carlos.

Mayor Martinez, as she administered the Oath-taking at the Mayor’s office, told the new public servants to serve with honesty and promote good governance, urging them to set a good example of leadership to their constituents.

“As you serve into office, act as advocate of a better change in your barangays. Makipagmaymaysa kayo kadagiti programa iti gobyerno tayo, manipud iti National, Provincial ken Municipal tapno naan-nayas ti panagdur-as ti lugar tayo. Be the role model of your constituents worthy of emulation,’’ Martinez said.

Upon assumption to office as Punong Barangays, they are expected to perform as first liners and are responsible for the provision of basic health at the community level through supporting the Barangay Health Workers, promote peace and order through leading the Tanods, lead dispute resolution as chairman of the lupon tagapamayapa, govern the barangay local government as head of the legislative, executive, and quasi-judicial functions of the barangay government in the community.

Further, a barangay SK chairman is required to head the barangay youth council towards developing and promoting programs and activities that cater to the needs and welfare of the youth.
