54-yr.-old found dead in Cagaling River, Tuba, Benguet

Tuba, Benguet - A quiet river in Tuba, Benguet, became the scene of tragedy after the body of a missing man was discovered lifeless.

The man, identified by the police as Efren Corisay, 54, was found dead in the Cagaling River in Sitio Hydro 2, Barangay Taloy Norte, Tuba, on April 26, 2025.

According to local reports, two individuals found Corisay’s body and immediately informed the police and barangay officials about the matter. In response, the Tuba PNP coordinated with the Scene of the Crime Operative (SOCO) team from the Benguet Forensic Unit—CAR and proceeded to the location to investigate.

The initial examination revealed no visible external injuries or wounds on Corisay’s body.

The authorities later found that Corisay was last seen on April 23 when he went to the river with a relative. However, he never returned home until he was found dead.

Although the exact cause of death is still being investigated, the victim’s wife believes it may have been an accident. She has given her consent for an autopsy to determine the victim’s cause of death.
