Political candidate in Kalinga and 1 other caught with P1.5M shabu, illegal firearms

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A councilor-aspirant in Kalinga is one of the two men brought to police custody on Friday morning, May 2, for possession of over a million-worth of suspected shabu along with firearms.

 

On May 1, around 10:00 p.m., anti-narcotic operatives from the PNP and PDEA proceeded to implement a search warrant in San Francisco, Dagupan West which resulted into the arrest of two men tagged as High Value Individual Drug personalities.


The suspects whose names are withheld were identified by the police as 39-year-old man running for councilor in Kalinga while the other accused is said to be a 32-year-old driver.

 

In the information obtained by GURU Press Cordillera from Kalinga Police Provincial Director, PCol. James Mangili, the almost five-hour operation led to the discovery and confiscation of several sachets of suspected shabu estimated to have worth P1,567,400.

 

The cops and agents likewise seized firearms - Glock 34 Gen 4 9mm pistol, Cal. 9mm snub nose revolver, and Taurus "black widow" Cal. 9mm snub nose revolver along with magazines and live ammunitions. There were also drug paraphernalia seized during the operation.

 

After the pieces of evidence were inventoried onsite, the two suspects were brought to the Tabuk City Police Office. Charges for violation of RA 9165 and RA 10591 are now being prepared against the suspects.

 

The operation ended around 3:45 a.m. of May 2, 2025.
