Tinglayan immunized over 1000 children against measles, polio

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Over a thousand of children in Tinglayan have already been inoculated against measles – rubella, and polio since the start of the vaccination drive in the locality on May 02 at the Municipal Gymnasium.

The ‘Chikiting Ligtas 2023’ is a month-long supplemental immunization campaign to vaccinate 0-59 months old children in the country against measles – rubella and polio. This is to prevent outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases such as measles and polio which are both contagious and life-threatening.


Municipal Information Officer Larae Lactao relayed that as of May 09, there are already 1,085 kids under 5 who were vaccinated. Four hundred ninety-seven of the figure were immunized against measles-rubella while 588 received the Bivalent Oral Polio vaccine.

Mayor Sacrament Gumilab, in a statement, encourages yTinglayan parents to have their kids immunized to avoid these vaccine-preventable diseases.


“Kakailiyan haan tayu kuma nga mabuteng nga ipa-bakuna dagiti annak tayu ta ti bakuna ket haan nga delikado nu di ket protektaran na iti annak tayu iti sakit kasla iti measles, rubella ken polio. Ti bakuna ket makaturung nga papigsaen ti bagin ti ubing tayu,” he said.


He then enjoins everyone who have kids under 5 to go to the RHU or to proceed to their barangay health stations to avail of the free vaccine until the end of May, “Gapu't kasta, maawis tayu amin nga kakailiyan iti daytoy nga child vaccination tapnu dumakkel dagiti annak tayu nga nasalun-at ken nakaradkad.”
