Aguinaldo, Ifugao forms local artists group for product promotion, preservation


Aguinaldo, Ifugao - The newly formed Local Artists and Craftsmen Council of Aguinaldo, Ifugao, organized for the promotion and preservation of artists and their handiwork is now led by President-elect Bonifacio Chulla.


The creation of said group is pursuant to Provincial Ordinance No. 2021-18, "Recognizing and Promoting Ifugao Local Artists and Craftsmen in the Province of Ifugao and Appropriating Funds Therefor."


The measure seeks to likewise train the youth in artistry and at the same time provide assistance and appreciation awards, incentive,s and accreditation to those deserving skilled artists and craftsmen in the locality.


The ordinance mandates all towns in the province to organize such a council that shall regulate and manage activities relating to promotion and development of members and their works.

With the aid of the Tourism and Heritage Office, in collaboration with Aguinaldo Tourism Office and the office of the ordinance proponent - Board Member Perfecta Dulnuan, the artists' group in town was formed on November 15 at its Bids and Awards Committee Office.


Along with Chulla, the council is governed by other elected officers as follows: Vice President Botchie Batang, Secretary Novelyn Bumilao, Treasurer Winston Budchangan, Public Relations Officer William Guygoy, Auditor Jenny Hegnabon, and Business Managers Juliet Henaggon and Benita Inchaon.


The organization shall be composed of members who are bona fide residents of Aguinaldo with exemplary skills and knowledge of indigenous arts, culture, and tradition and who actually practice such crafts for livelihood or for promotion or preservation purposes.


Congratulating the set of officers, Mayor Gaspar Chilagan Jr. hopes for the realization of the council’s goals, highlighting that artists play a lead role in cultural heritage preservation.
