Armed man arrested in Bangued, Abra after street disturbance sparks police response

Abra, Philippines – An armed man was arrested by police in Bangued, Abra after authorities responded to a reported commotion on February 5, 2026.


Police were alerted to a disturbance along Washington Street in Zone 2, Bangued on Friday, prompting them to immediately proceed to the area. Upon arrival, operatives spotted a man holding a firearm and attempting to conceal it in his pocket.


The police approached the suspect and confiscated a chamber-loaded .22 caliber Beretta pistol from his possession. After failing to present valid documents authorizing him to carry and possess a firearm, the man was arrested.


A search of his bag also yielded four live rounds of .22 caliber ammunition and three live rounds of .45 caliber ammunition.


The suspect was brought to the Bangued Municipal Police Station for documentation and the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.


In a press release, the Abra Police Provincial Office said the successful operation demonstrates the effectiveness and readiness of law enforcement personnel in responding to threats and maintaining peace and order in the province.
