Balbalan records highest sales in 2024 Bodong Agro-Fair

Balbalan, Kalinga – The municipality of Balbalan showcased anew their entrepreneurial spirit as they emerged as the frontrunner in sales during the 2024 Bodong Agro-Fair, held as part of Kalinga province’s 29th founding anniversary celebration.

The annual exhibition at the Capitol grounds serves as a platform to showcase the rich diversity of agricultural practices in the locality. It provides an opportunity for the seven municipalities and the city to promote their agricultural products and innovations, while fostering collaboration.

Despite ranking second for the Best Booth Award, the town led by Mayor Almar Malannag demonstrated their agricultural sector’s economic potential to win the accolade for the highest sale.

Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Municipal Agriculturist Arnel Malaggay said that their booth generated a total sale of P136,784, surpassing all other competing towns.

Malaggay attributed their success to a wide variety of goods, particularly emphasizing "gayunan" seedlings, handicrafts and processed items such as coffee, among others.

The prize for the Best Booth award was initially set at P20,000 for the grand winner, according to Malaggay.

Adjustments, however, were made during the awarding ceremony, with the winner receiving P5,000.

Beyond the monetary gains, Balbalan celebrates the resilience of its local farmers, entrepreneurs, and the concerted efforts of all the concerned offices, paving the way for an agricultural excellence.
