Balbalan’s drum and lyre still the champion, 7 years undefeated

Balbalan, Kalinga – Delegates from Balbalan proved that with determination, coupled with the full support of the local government unit, anything is possible.

 

Saint Theresita’s School of Balbalan defeated other contenders from other municipalities and the City of Tabuk, capturing their seventh consecutive win in the secondary category of drum and lyre.

 

The team’s flawless execution, synchronized movements, and captivating musical arrangement impressed the judges and audience alike, thus garnering a score of 97.4 percent in the competition held on February 13 at Kalinga Sports Complex. On the same day, Balbalan team likewise dominated the Bodong Street Dance tilt.

 

The recent performance solidified their reputation as a powerhouse in the realm of drum and lyre in the province.


Behind the success lies the concerted efforts of the school officials, coaches, and LGU through the leadership of Mayor Almar Malannag and Vice Mayor Rowina Alison Damian who were spotted at the venue to personally support the team. The municipal government has allocated a substantial amount for their delegates.

 

Since their preparation days, the community has also been extending their hand to contribute to their town’s triumph.

 

The hard work of the people of Balbalan did not go in vain with their wins.

 

Other winners

 

Cudal National High School clinched the first runner-up position with an impressive score of 94.8 percent, earning them P60,000 in prize money. Tabuk City National High School secured the second runner-up position with a score of 91.6 percent, taking home P50,000. Settling at the third runner-up spot with a score of 91 percent was Agbannawag National High School which claimed the P40,000 prize.

 

Additionally, several schools received recognition as runners-up with P30,000 each in acknowledgment of their efforts. These schools include Saint Williams Academy, STS Tabuk City, Saint Tonis College Inc., STS- Pinukpuk, and Tabuk Institute.
