Body of unidentified woman found in Kabugao, Apayao

Updated: Aug 5, 2023

Kabugao, Apayao – A dead body of a woman was dug out at a corn field along the Apayao River in Centro Musimut, Kabugao around 1:00 a.m. on Friday, August 04, 2023.

The cadaver described to be wearing a brassiere, at least 5 feet tall, and long hair, was discovered by residents of Musimut who were then collecting firewood on August 03.

Police authorities reported that one of the residents first smelled a foul odor while gathering firewood. She then informed her father and other locals about the smell.

For this reason, they all dug up at the area where the bad smell was coming from.

The residents, however, had to stop digging as they can no longer tolerate the unpleasant odor.

Authorities who were alerted of the incident around 11:40 p.m. on Thursday proceeded to the area where they recover the cadaver.

DNA of the dead body was collected before it was temporarily turned over to Musimut barangay officials. The Kabugao police, on the other hand, coordinated with the Calanasan authorities to confirm if she was one of the victims buried by the landslide in Butao, Calanasan at the height of Super Typhoon Egay.
