DOLE grants Tinglayan farmers' group P.4M livelihood boost

Updated: May 5

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Some 38 farmers in Bangad shall now have side hustles besides farming, as their organization received Tuesday, April 23, P418,000 worth of financial aid that would help them push through with their mushroom production.

The aid in the form of equipment came from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) - Kalinga through the agency’s Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).

DILP is the agency’s initiative pursuant to the government’s inclusive growth program, which targets to provide more jobs to Filipinos, thereby reducing unemployment in the country.

Apart from the equipment the program brings forth, it also provides training to its beneficiaries, ensuring that their planned project will be implemented well and not bring the government’s effort to waste.

Thus, in the awarding ceremony led by Anthony Luminang from DOLE-Kalinga and held in Bangad Centro, members were advised to take good care of the equipment given, maximize its usage, and upgrade their livelihood.

The association’s president, Bernard Bang-as, gladly received the aid and signified their group’s commitment to making sure that the awarded livelihood will serve its purpose.

In a statement, Mayor Sacrament Gumilab expressed his gratitude to the agency for their continued support of the farmers, particularly in Tinglayan.

He said that with the start-up capital given, it will not only ensure monetary gain to the members of the benefiting livelihood association but would also offer employment opportunities, advancing Tinglayan’s local economic growth.
