DTI-Kalinga holds first year-end MSME gathering after 31 years of operation

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Department of Trade and Industry-Kalinga conducted a year-end Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs gathering on Monday, December 12, 2022 at the Davidson Hotel, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga.


Said gathering is considered to be a historic one since it was said to be the first conducted by the agency after 31 years of operation.

Renie Ramos, Provincial Director of DTI-Kalinga, emphasized that the event was an opportunity for the MSMEs to learn from one another through sharing knowledge and strategies in putting up their businesses and how they became successful.


At the same time, the event honored outstanding business owners who did well in business such as attaining high sales and maintaining a consistent marketing campaign for locally made products.


72 local entrepreneurs who benefited from various programs of DTI-Kalinga like the Negosyo Center, One town, One Product (OTOP), and Mentor Me program from batch 2016-2022 participated in the said event.

Among the chosen speakers who shared their journey on their businesses were Maureen Toctocan, owner of Cassidy Designs, Marietta Claver, owner of JAC Farms, Marina Calanog, owner of YJ’s Farm Products and Jenny Takamine, the owner of Happy Hands.


In his speech, Governor James Edduba encouraged the participants to make businesses and help each other flourish. Additionally, he made sure that the provincial local government unit would support local businesses by setting up booths at trade shows and other events where they could market their products and earn more income.


Meantime, the City Local Government Unit recognized the contribution of the local MSMEs in the economic growth of the city and the continuous promotion of locally-produced products outside the province.
